There are two primary methods for determining density: nuclear and non-nuclear. Radioactive sources are used in nuclear procedures, however for the purposes of this discussion, we will ignore the nuclear aspect. Non-nuclear density metres calculate density without the use of radioactive materials by using other techniques like ultrasonic waves or vibrating elements. It is comparable to switching from nuclear power to renewable energy, which is safer and better for the environment.
